RED

The blood of these burdened streets now reach the burdens made of the blood that once covered my ancestors knees.
Discolored then.
They say you can't see the blood on a black man.
Let me pull out my glasses so I can see, and grieve in remembrance.
The blood that marked every Hebrew's home in hopes of lives to spare, now covers our doors in splatters, in hopes that our message now is clear.
Hoping that we continue to not care, that our children now bleed the blood of an urban slave..
whipped and beaten by money cars clothes and Lil Wayne..
Bleeding the blood not dignified
Discolored, not seen by a black man's eyes..
Blood as long as our African history lies
Discolored, not seen by our generations minds.
You can't see the blood on a black man
but it is clear as crystal on a nigga.
it is dyed the color that "resembles the color of blood"
A color I can't remember.
Cuz I
only bleed the blood my ancestors have given
I refuse to change it's color
To erase its existence
Falling into a trap of robotics
tracing longer distances.
Discolored then
Discolored in the future,
I refuse to dye it red, I. don't. find. it useful
meaningful with purpose
Cuz I bleed the same blood
That my ancestors got from whips, welts and thorns
The same blood that they would bleed whenever a heir to their throne was born
Discolored and with a legacy that is meant to continue on.

The blood of these burdened streets can't compare with the burdens that once covered my ancestors knees.
The blood of these burdened streets now reach the burdens of the blood that now covers our country's teens.
Colored that color "that resembles the color of blood"
A color once made by the "massas" and now the thugs
It was discolored then
but we bleed the blood of urban slave
Cuz we focus on the money, the hoes and the gangs.
But this is NOT the blood that should be passing through our veins.
What once was blood filled with dignity, is now blood filled with shame.
You can't see the blood on a black man,
but it is clear as crystal on a "nigga"
painted the color "that resembles the color of blood"
A color I can't remember.
